For nearly a decade, virtual reality (VR) has been used as a tool to assist the healing process. Studies have shown as many as 90% of patients can experience reduced pain and recovery time through VR therapy. Cases where virtual reality has proven a success range from alleviating the suffering of cancer patients to improving quality of life for the elderly. With such wide ranging applications, we are presented with a powerful tool to enhance patient well-being and potentially reduce the burden on the healthcare system as a whole.
